Sinangoe: Defending A’i Kofan Ancestral Territory

Environmental monitors from the A’i Kofán community are able to defend their ancestral territory in Sinangoe, east Ecuador by detecting and recording reliable, real-time evidentiary documentation.

The community use land patrols, camera trap photos and videos, drone footage, satellite imagery as well as territorial mapping to capture footage of illegal hunting in their traditional lands.

Watch this video case study from Amazon Frontlines to learn how the Kofán are exercising their autonomy in defense of their ancestral territory. This video is part of the Video as Evidence: Environmental Defense Guide.
